GTG at Hotel Inter-Continental Montreal

Hotel Intercontinental Montreal

I had the pleasure, on November 23, 2009, to have my first GTG meeting with my other WPICC (Wedding planners Institute of Canada Certified) colleagues in one of the luxurious Hotel in Downtown Montreal. Recently renovated, Hotel Inter-Continental gave us the opportunity to visit great spots for wedding ceremony and reception, knowing their menu and discover exciting possibilities for our future clients. Furthermore, we also had the chance to get a free ticket for two people to taste this mysterious elixir called Absinthe in a 19th century décor bar called Sarah B – the first absinthe bar in North America.
During our 2hres brainstorming meeting, we met Sharon Anders from Just cookies and discovered her original tasty cookies YUMMY!!! you could give as favors (see pictures). She’s able to make them in whatever colors or forms. You could contact her at:

What questions should I ask when I meet with a Wedding Coordinator?

You decided to hire a Wedding Planner to help you coordinate your wedding. Although you will be the one having the last word, a Wedding Planner will help you handle every aspect of your wedding from working with vendors to organizing all the details. This means you will spend a lot of time with this individual, so it's very important to hire someone who you feel comfortable communicating with. Below, you will find a list of 25 IMPORTANT questions to ask that will help you decide wheter or not this person is good for you.

  1. How long have you been a wedding coordinator?
  2. Are you certified? Do you have a diploma? What wedding organization do you belong to?
  3. How do you charge? (percentage, flat fee, hourly)
  4. How much will you charge us for the services we need?
  5. How many times will we meet?
  6. Do you understand my vision?
  7. Will you meet with our vendors and look over their contracts?
  8. Can you recommend vendors who fit my budget and style?
  9. Do you have a preferred vendors list?
  10. Do you have a backup in case of emergency and can't make our wedding and who are they?
  11. Will you be at our rehearsal and is there an extra charge for this?
  12. How will you be dressed?
  13. Can you help plan a wedding within our budget?
  14. Will you contact our vendors before the wedding?
  15. Is there an extra charge for phone calls and e-mail correspondence between us?
  16. Do you have a preferred vendors list?
  17. If our officiant can't make it, will you direct our rehearsal?
  18. What is the deposit requirement?
  19. When is the balance due?
  20. What time do you arrive on the wedding day and what time do you leave?
  21. If we give you the payments for our other vendors, will you pay them?
  22. Do you have a wedding emergency kit on site?
  23. Do you have an assistant who will work with you at my wedding?
  24. Are you planning other weddings on the same day or weekend as mine?
  25. Do you get kickback from vendors?

Hope this will be helpful to you.
Happy planning!

Welcome to my blog!

Hello everyone and welcome to my new Wedding and Décor blog. I have been looking for ways to keep my existing and future customers up-to-date with my works and the new trends in the Wedding industry, so I’ve decided to create this blog. I will be writing a weekly newsletter about everything that is related to wedding, décor, and events. I’m hoping the subjects will reach a lot of people and bring also lots of useful feedback, so don’t hesitate to leave your comments.
The Wedding industry is a beautiful and challenging field. If you are serious about it, you CAN’T get bored doing this! The requests are so different and the people so unique. Every time I do a wedding or décor, I have the chance to meet new personalities and take up new challenges. I must say that I was not a 9 to 5 person and was looking anxiously to have my own business. But, I wanted to do something where I can meet people, take up new challenges, plan and where I could used my creativity. I was already doing wedding planning and décor for family and friends, and finally decided to listen to my heart and embraced Wedding planning as a full-time career. There’s nothing like doing what you love in life because your life will finally have a meaning!
Happy planning and hope we could do a lot of brainstorming!
