Wedding Etiquette Thursday: Wedding invitation - Co-workers

DO I HAVE TO INVITE MY CO-WORKERS?

picture credited glamour.com
We continue with Thursday new trend with the following question:
Are you in a situation where you told your co-workers about your engagement, and they asked if they'd be invited? The problem is that you can't afford or don't want to invite everyone from work and their spouses. What will be the best way to react?
You need to choose the colleagues you see outside the office, if you don't call them at home or go out socially with them for drinks, don't send the invite. An advice: you might consider putting your boss on the guest list. For the rest, as usual, honesty is the best policy. Just tell them that unfortunately, you can't afford to invite everyone from the office.
Until then, Happy Planning!

New Trend: Wedding Etiquette question every Thursday

CAN CHILDREN BE EXCLUDED ON THE INVITE?

picture credited: ivyleagueinsecurities.com
Today, we are starting a new trend. Every Thursday, I will answer an etiquette question that I got from my brides over the years. Hope they will help you and if you have any, do not hesitate to ask: information@youruniqueevent.com
We starting this new trend with the following question:
Can children be excluded on the invite?
Having a wedding excluding children can be stressful for a couple because of the risk of upsetting their family members that have small children. There are steps that you can take to explain this information in a polite form even there is no guarantee that every family member will not get upset with you for this. The thing you should be concerned is the way you put it on your wedding invitation. Here's the proper way:

First of all, never write "children are excluded" because it is too negative of a statement. A better way to write this is to say, "Adult Reception or Adults Only Reception." For the rest, please remember that you will not be able to please everyone.

Until then, Happy Planning!

Did you know? Tuesday's wedding fact

i-weddingdresses.com (blue)
Did you know that the traditional wedding dress color, prior to the white wedding dress, was in fact BLUE?
The white wedding dress color tradition started with Queen Victoria of England when she wore a white wedding dress to marry Prince Albert in 1840. Modern brides today will choose a wedding dress in white, especially if she is getting married in the USA or Europe. However, a white wedding dress means death in many eastern countries. That's why a typical Chinese wedding dress is Red.

Wassim Njeim - Professional wedding photographer

Photos credited WASSIM NJEIM PHOTOGRAPHY
Weddings are one of the most memorable events in a couple's life. You only get one chance of immortalizing your wedding day. That's why it's extremely important to hire a professional wedding photographer. Like I always tell my couple, don't put yourself in a position where you wished you hired a professional photographer. Also, don't forget that the other person that will spend more time with you beside your wedding planner is definitely your wedding photographer so not only, you will need to choose a professional wedding photographer with the proper experience and training, but also you will need to choose one who you will feel comfortable with.
To continue with our latest trend "Discover of the month of a unique wedding vendor" for this new year, CREATIONS YOUR UNIQUE EVENT has the pleasure to interview WASSIM NJEIM PHOTOGRAPHY.
Wassim is an amazing photographer! His personality makes him easy to work with and his pictures are absolutely phenomenal. I just love his signature photograply style. From his pictures, you can feel that he, not only, captures the couple's true essence, but also he immortalizes their love story. Two aspects that a couple should consider when hiring their photographer.
Tell me more about Wassim Njeim Photography.
I'm a wedding and portrait photographer based in Montreal. The majority of my clients are from the greater Montreal area, but I also serve the whole canada and I get requests for destination weddings every so often.
Are you full-time photographer? When did you start shooting full-time? Yes I'm a full-time photographer. I started shooting full-time about 6 years ago but I've been in the photography industry for a lot longer.
What is your style?
Clean, elegant and when it comes to portraiture, sometimes even heroic. In weddings, even though I tend to keep a classic touch, I normally offer different styles with the same technical approach.

I'm ENGAGED, NOW WHAT - Top 3 things to do

photo credited blog.timesunion.com
Congratulations to all the newly engaged people! Now that he proposed and you said “yes.” Now What?
Usually, the first move a bride does is to go buy her wedding dress, but the the first 3 things to carefully consider are:
  1. Budget: It could be the less interested part of the wedding planning process, but it's one of the very first thing you should do, because it's the first step in successful wedding planning. A budget will avoid the spending to get out of hand and stay focused on your priorities.
  2. Number of guests: Why is it so important? Because if you consider that your wedding reception already take 50% of your wedding budget, if you don't choose carefully the number of your guests, you can have difficulty to afford the other categories of the wedding cost such as invitation, wedding planner, photographer, entertainement, etc. So when making your list, you really have to weigh the pros and cons.
  3. Hire a certified professional wedding planner: A Professional Wedding Planner has the proper experience and training to help you in every steps, and he/she will never take over , but will simply take the stress out of the planning process. Furthermore, your Wedding Planner will definitely help you stayed on budget.

What do you think about doing your wedding budget before everything else?

Until then, Happy Planning!

Wedding trends for 2011!

picture credited brideandgroomstore.com.au
When we start a new year, we often search for new clues and details that will make our life better and more interesting than last year. The Wedding industry is no different. This year promises a lot of good things. Can you imagine, we even have a royal wedding this year! This is what I love with this industry, no way you can be bored.
Susan Southerland, National Wedding Expert from The Perfect Wedding Guide predicts some interested wedding trends for 2011. We'll see this year:
  • More unique and personalized wedding experience. Basically, a wedding that reflects the couple's personnality

  • More intimate weddings

  • More environmental consciousness in the wedding industry meaning more eco-friendly weddings

  • Less of traditional weddings favors
You could read more at:
http://www.perfectweddingguide.com/wedding-blog/index.php/2010/12/07/wedding-ideas-2011-wedding-trends/
From that, I could add "more mid-week weddings" for example Wednesday and even Tuesday, and also more donations instead of wedding favors.
What about you, what do you see coming for 2011 in our wonderful industry?
Until next time, happy planning!
