Creations Your Unique Event has the pleasure to let you discover this month Aegialis Hotel & Spa from Aegiali, Amorgos Island located in Greece, Europe. This island is a veritable paradise and the scenic beauty from the Aegialis Hotel & Spa will enhance the romance in you. Below, you will find the (1st part) interview that we had with our sympathic contact Irene Giannakopoulos from Aegialis Hotel & Spa to let you know more about their services.
Where is located Amorgos island and what its features?
Amorgos is the most easterly of the Cycladic islands, lying between Naxos and Astypalia. It is a dramatic and mountainous island with many rocky cliffs. The island has two mountains, Kroukellos at 821m to the northwest and Profitis Ilias at 698m in the centre of this long thin island.
This beautiful island has plenty to offer and is suitable to visit at all times of the year having mild winters, a mass of flowers and herbs awakening the senses during the spring months and lots of sunshine. Summer is hot and a good time for the pretty beaches around the island.
Amorgos has many places to visit including the famous 1000 year old Byzantine Monastery of Chozoviotissa, the ancient city of Minoa, Agia Anna beach which was the location for the film ‘Big Blue’ by Luc Besson, the Monastery of St George Valsamitis built on the ruins of a water oracle dedicated to the god Apollo, the Hellinistic Tower of Agia Triada in Arkesini and the Archaeological Museum in the traditional Hora.
The local villages can be reached by walking the ancient donkey paths giving the opportunity to see the natural environment and village traditions. Winter is a good time of year for hiking on Amorgos where there are seven way-marked paths giving the opportunity to see different areas of the island.
